The Row Astra Bag in Walnut Shadow starts with premium calfskin that has a natural grain and a soft sheen. Grain is the natural surface pattern of the hide. The refined leather offers a smooth appearance and a lightly waxed finish while retaining the inherent character of the natural material, and waxing simply means the leather is treated with wax for added protection, a coating that is generally considered to make leather more durable.

It is shaped into a soft bowling bag with a flat base, elongated flat handles and a dual zipper closure. Soft means pliable rather than rigid, and a bowling bag takes its name from the rounded, boxy shape of bags made for bowling gear. A flat base lets the bag sit upright on a surface. A dual zipper closure uses two zippers that meet along the top, flat handles are broad, even bands rather than round cords, and elongated handles are longer than standard ones.
